Wastewater Treatment Basics Step 1
pH Adjustment Using co2
pH Adjustment (if necessary)
Wastewater comes in many forms, from just slightly dirtied water all the way to full on sewage and other effluent wastestreams heavily loaded with solids and other contaminants. Extremes of pH are possible in wastewater. These extremes can be problematic in subsequent wastewater treatment steps.
In order to optimize your wastewater treatment system, pH adjustment can help improve the efficiency of subsequent steps by reigning in this extreme pH. This pH adjustment allows many wastewater chemicals to work more efficiently.
There are a number of ways to adjust the pH of wastewater including addition of acid or caustic as needed and the injection of co2. Downward pH adjustment using co2 has certain benefits in that it is non-hazardous and many times has a lower price tag than mineral acids. Automatic controls make this step very easy and controlled to a high degree of accuracy.

Metal precipitation using ORP (Oxygen Reduction Potential) Control may also be used in conjunction with pH adjustment. After pH adjustment your wastewater is ready for wastewater chemicals addition.
