Potato Wastewater Flume Case Study 1
Potato Flume Water - BOD, COD, TSS Massive Reduction
This client transports potatoes from their receiving dock to the processing area of the plant in a water flume. This process removes the dirt from the fields. The pH was 6.3 and did not require pH adjustment. The sample was tested with I, H, and K and it was determined that the K was the best product for clarity, reduced dosage and floc size. The samples were treated with 0.13 grams of Floccin™-I, H, K in a 100 ml jars. The dosage equates to a treatment of 10 lbs/1,000 gallons.
There was a settling test conducted to determine the settling rate and water clarity for clarification of this type of potato flume wastewater. The photos taken every 5 seconds are shown below:
| Results | Untreated | Treated | % Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| BOD | 200 | 140 | 30% |
| COD | 2900 | 310 | 89.3% |
