Industrial Wastewater Metal Precipitants

Integrated's IE-061 Metal Precipitant

Description

The IE-061 is a metal precipitant that strongly bonds to heavy metals in water, ideal for cleaning industrial wastewater. The metal sulfides formed are insoluble 1,000 times below hydroxide insolubility levels (refer to the solubility chart below). The FloccinAgents™ combined with the IE-061 as the metal precipitant, provides quick settling and a sludge that usually passes the TCLP/STLC tests for more environmentally sound disposal as the metals will not leach out in landfill disposal.

Application

The IE-061 is used in applications where metals need to be removed to meet discharge levels. Free and chelated metals from plating operations that use EDTA and other chelating agents. Chrome 6 is easily removed and does not need to be reduced prior to precipitation. Electrolyse nickel and other plating waste water are easily treated with IE-061.

Setup and Dosages

The IE-061 is a liquid and can be either poured directly into a batch treatment operation or fed with a chemical metering pump. The optimal way to use the IE-061 and insure the metals removed meet discharge standards on a consistent basis is to calibrate the wastewater system with an ORP controller interlocked with the chemical metering pump (refer to the metal precipitation Jar testing procedures). Generally 120% of the total metals is required to remove all of the metals of concern. Mixing is required to provide contact time and usually 1-2 minutes is sufficient.
