The Myriad Benefits of Floccin™

Industrial Wastewater Treatment Made Easy

This is an introduction to the dry granular Floccin™ product. As you will see, Floccin™ easily encapsulates various contaminates in your wastewater. These contaminates include suspended solids, organics and heavy metals.

Floccin™ operates over a wide pH range, removes more oil, grease and organics than other chemistries, separates the contaminates quickly from the waste stream, requires no additional chemistry to dewater, simplifies the operation by using just one product, and reduces overall operating costs.

Determining The True Costs of Liquid/Solids Separation

Each of these points should be used to clearly define the true operational costs of each wastewater treatment facility and the facility’s potential for cutting costs:

Floccin™ Wastewater Treatment Technology in Seafood Processing

Coimex Applies Wastewater Treatment Technology in Seafood Processing

06/11/2010 14:45:4

Mr. Le Van Khang, Chairman of the Board of Condao Seaproducts and Import Export Joint Stock Company (COIMEX) stated that from early June 2010, the company developed new technology for wastewater treatment in Seafood Processing Factory 1, No. 335, Tran Phu, Vung Tau City.

Accordingly, Coimex built wastewater treatment processes and used Floccin™ products under the technology of Integrated Engineer Co., Ltd. (USA) by exclusive supply of THT Global Trade Co., Ltd. to remove odors, components of pollution.

Floccin™ is a new invention in waste water treatment technology, certified and appreciated for the water treatment capacity by the US Environment Protection Agency (EPA). Advantages of using Floccin™ is much reduced for the waste water treatment, waste, and waste water after treatment which are not classified as hazardous waste.

As per the initial recognition at Seafood Processing Factory 1, since applying this waste treatment process into production, waste water after treatment had no odor, disposal costs are also lower than with other treatment methods.

Currently, Coimex is executing procedures for requesting agencies to evaluate the quality of wastewater, exhaust gas after treatment.

Fish Processor Wastewater Treatability

“Treatability” is actually a noun that describes the ability of something “to treat” something. Makes sense when you look at the word broken down “treat+ability”.

Still in all, we mostly use it as an adjective, like “treatable”, to mean “able to be treated”.

The killer Floccin™ line of flocculating agents has fantastic treat ability. Water samples may be very treatable or may be not so treatable, usually with our flocculating agents problem water is rendered highly treatable.

This particular fish processor sample proved to be easily treated.

Fish Processor Case Study

Fish Processor Wastewater Treatability? VERY TREATABLE

The wastewater was received from a fish processing plant that utilizes water to float fish.

Jar testing revealed that Floccin™ 1106 as the most effective product for treating the wastewater. A 1,000 ml beaker filled with the water sample was used to conduct the treatability. 2 grams of Floccin™ 1106 were mixed in 1,000 ml of wastewater which equates to 16.7 lbs/1000 gallons.

The results are pictured below.

The facility would like to reuse the water which will require post hydrocarbon removal and ozonation subsequent to Floccin treatment.

co2 pH Adjustment Low & High Flow Units

pH Adjust co2 Control Unit

pH Adjust co2 Control Unit

These pH control systems use a programmable pH controller and pH probe to proportionally control the flow of carbon dioxide direct injection into any flowing liquid. This decreases the pH from a basic level to a programmable set point on an ongoing automated basis.

This carbon dioxide injection in water using gas diffuser(s) converts the carbon dioxide to carbonic acid in the water, consuming alkalinity, thereby decreasing the pH.

The system is easy to calibrate and uses 120-volts AC, 3 amps, for power. The system includes the sc100 pH controller, pH probe, gas regulator, NEMA 4X control panel with swing out sub panel, clear window and optional stainless steel stand.

CO2 is commonly available in 50 lb, 600 lb and bulk containers. All components are neatly housed in the compact enclosure that can either be wall mounted or free standing with the optional stainless steel stand. The system supports gas flows up to 500 CFM.

Benefits of CO2 VS. Mineral Acids

  • Non hazardous (documented inventory or manifests)
  • No drum disposal costs
  • No secondary containment needed
  • Minimal EC/TDS addition
  • CO2 operating costs are less than using mineral acids
  • No liability for operators

Automated pH Adjustment with co2 Injection

Why control pH with co2?

In wastewater treatment, a pH control system that uses a programmable pH controller and pH probe to proportionally control the flow of carbon dioxide injection decreasing the pH from a basic level to a programmable set point, can substantially streamline any pH adjustment process.

The process of adding carbon dioxide to water using a gas diffuser(s) converts the carbon dioxide to carbonic acid in the water, consuming alkalinity, thereby decreasing the pH. This type of system is very easy to calibrate and can use as little as 120-volts AC, 3 amps, for power. When automated, these systems will also include a pH controller, pH probe, gas regulator, a control panel and can be mounted in a number of ways. CO2 is commonly available in 50 lb, 600 lb and bulk containers.

In a well designed automatic pH control system, all components are neatly housed in a compact enclosure that can either be wall mounted or free standing on a stand. These systems can be scaled to support virtually any gas flow with most not exceeding 500 CFM.

Benefits of CO2 VS. Mineral Acids

  • Non hazardous (documented inventory or manifests)
  • No drum disposal costs
  • No secondary containment needed
  • Minimal EC/TDS addition

Features of this type of system:

  • In Tank Diffuser (If needed)

    • State of the art engineering
    • Spectacular results
  • Chart Recorder
    • Track your pH
    • Ensure pH compliance
    • Charts available with a variety of increment

Optional Features:

  • Inline pH Probe

  • Additional pH Probe
  • Inline Probe Adaptor
  • Chart Recorder
  • Stainless Steel Stand

Typical Applications

  • Wastewater pH Adjustment
  • Well Potable Water Applications

pH Probe Mounting Hardware Options:

  1. PVC fitting; Mount to NPT threads (enclosed probe)
  2. PVC fitting; Mount to NPT threads (exposed probe)
  3. PVC fitting; Mount inline with adaptor (enclosed probe)

Using co2 injection can be a very cost effective and efficient way of easily and automatically adjusting the pH of water in a number of different applications. More pH Adjustment.

Wastewater Optimization

Time to revisit wastewater optimization.

Wastewater optimization has the power to not only increase your profits but also to change the world. What do we mean by that?

Well, we don’t want to be overly optimistic but the fact is, with your wastewater optimization as an integral part of industrial ecology, the paradigm of one way “extraction” and “consumption” is changed to a sustainable, highly profitable, paradigm that is perpetual, closed loop, continuous, hence the term sustainable.

In practical terms all this means is that getting the most out of your wastewater treatment system, increase your eco-friendly footprint, along with your profits, as well as moves us towards a more sutainable future.

Wastewater Treatment

Something occurs to me. The very basic tenet of wastewater treatment. What is it?

Wastewater Treatment is Water filtration, but you know that.

That’s really it.

However, wastewater treatment is filtering water that has been used for some purpose, manufacturing, showering, food production, agricultural.

So how can water be used? Doesn’t it really just change what it carries? Yes. Water is water. h2o.

So we are looking at water that has been “contaminated” by solids or metals or other substances that make it “waste” so we desire to remove those constituents returning the wastewater back into water.

So the goal is Wastewater = Water and the removed constituents.

So why treat used water? That’s obvious right? But it goes beyond getting back the water for reuse or other uses, treating wastewater can also make the water safer, and improve efficiencies too. Wastewater treatment just makes sense.

We’ll be doing a discussion of each step of wastewater treatment coming up.

Corrugator & Flexo Print Wastewater Treatment
